Visual Planet Interactive Touch Foils

Visual Planet Interactive Touch Foil

Projected Capacitance Technology describes a type of capacitive technology which involves the relationship between an array of sensing wires set out in an XY grid and embedded within two layers of clear laminated conductive pad and a third object.

The third object can be a stylus such as a pen or pencil, or it can be a person's finger.

Projected capacitance creates an electrostatic field above the sensing surface to determine inputs. Capacitance forms between the user’s fingers and the projected capacitance from the sensing wires.

A touch is made which is then precisely measured and passed to a controller system connected to a software application. Once a touch is made, the change in capacitance is detected and the X and Y coordinates are then calculated.

The Visual Planet Interactive Touch Foil functions as a large-format computer notebook mouse pad, allowing the user to navigate through web pages or any interactive software programs.

Multi Touch is now a no-cost option on all Touch Foils in sizes up to 60" diagonal.

Projected Capacitance Technology allows for all components to be securely located behind storefront windows while maintaining twenty-four hour access to information.

Installation Options

Visual Planet Interactive Touch Foil can be installed using one of 4 methods.

Permanent Double Release is an optically clear permanent adhesive applied during production and is suitable for installation to either glass or acrylic. This option is intended as for long-term applications and subsequent removal will damage the Touch Foil.

Permanent Double Release is suitable for all sizes of Touch Foils.

Permanent Clean Peel Double Release is an optically clear adhesive applied during production and is suitable for installation to glass. This option allows the Touch Foil to be removed and relocated without leaving any residue for up to 1 year.

Permanent Clean Peel Double Release is suitable for Touch Foils no larger than 74" in a 4:3 format or 92" in a 16:9 format.

Cling Film relies on a static charge to attach only to glass. The Touch Foil is then applied to the Cling Film. Where the Touch Foil might be later relocated, the Cling Film offers the advantage of easy removal and the potential for additional use or inexpensive replacement.

Cling Film is suitable for Touch Foils no larger than 88" in a 4:3 format or 108" in a 16:9 format.

For some applications, there is no need for any Mounting System. The installer has the option of simply placing the Touch Foil between 2 layers of glass or acrylic. This substrate is clamped together at the edges and serves to hold the Touch Foil in place.

We recommend the use of a Professional Installer in any application.

Rear Projection Screens

With the Touch Foil applied to a storefront window or other location, a simple solution to provide corresponding video is to suspend a Rear Projection Screen of any matching or larger size directly behind it. The Rear Projection Screen can be held in place with a frame, floor-to-ceiling cabling or other methods.

LCD Monitors

The use of an LCD requires an air gap of 5 millimetres or more between the LCD panel and the Touch Foil. If the LCD is too close then the resulting noise interference with the Touch Foil will result in spurious random mouse movements.

Note that the electrical field generated by a Plasma monitor is not compatible with Visual Planet.

Warranty

Visual Planet Touch Foils are warranted to be free from defects and other faults for a period of 1 year from the date of shipment.

TCI extends the factory warranty to 2 years for all our Touch Foils except demonstration models.

Visual Planet will, at their discretion, repair or replace a faulty Touch Foil if a fault is found to be present during the warranty period.

Faults or damages caused by the user due to negligence, lack of training or caused maliciously in any installation environment are specifically excluded from the warranty.

Maintenance

  • Do not expose the screen to sharp objects
  • Do not expose the screen to detergents, solvents or other liquids
  • Use a soft brush or electrostatic dust cloth for cleaning

Environment

  • Service temperature from -10° to 70° Celsius
  • Humidity from 0% to 95%
  • Results may vary and are for comparative use only
